Questions about safety coat hooks?

Can plastic coat hooks hold that much?2021-01-17T02:03:12-06:00

You may be asking if plastic coat hooks can really hold up to the wear and tear of years of classroom use? Opposed to popular belief, plexiglass is not the plastic we use to create HangSafe Hook. Instead, we use ultra-durable polycarbonate plastic—the same plastic for airplanes and bulletproof windows and football helmets.

Also, our flat-profile design allows for 3 1/2″ above the rack of available storage! That means one hook is always enough for each student to hang their backpack, coat, and even a lunchbox.

That’s why we confidently provide a lifetime warranty. If one of our hooks breaks, we replace it for free! In our nearly 30 years in business, we have hundreds of thousands of hooks in use every day and we’ve only replaced a few broken ones!

How do I hang coat hooks?2021-01-17T01:40:54-06:00

To hang coat hooks, we provide the mounting hardware for a safe hold. Install HangSafe Hooks on an existing coat rack is to use the provided two 2″ stainless steel screws and washers. Simply remove metal coat hooks and install HangSafe Hooks in their place.

In your order, we provide the mounting hardware you’ll need to securely hang coat hooks. Our HangSafe Racks include pre-drilled mounting holes measuring 16″ on center to follow standard stud distance. If you’ll be unable to find a stud, we provide alternative fasteners for a secure hold!

What spacing of coat hooks should I choose?2021-01-17T01:11:12-06:00

When choosing the spacing of coat hooks, consider the belonging of the students using them regularly. Each of our spacing options has the capacity to hold a backpack, coat, and even a lunchbox with 3 1/2″ of available hook space.

We offer four spacing options between the center of one hook to the center of the next is:

  • 5 1/2″
  • 6.4″
  • 8″
  • 10 2/3″

While each hook has the capacity to hold more than any other coat hook, consider how closely you’d like the belongings of your students overlapping. See how each spacing of coat hooks holds backpacks and coats on each hook here!

What height should safety coat hooks be installed?2021-01-17T00:38:03-06:00

The height you hang your safety coat hooks is determined by the ages of the children who use the hooks the most. Our safety coat hooks are safe enough to hang at eye level. We suggest installing coat hooks:

  • 3-5-year-olds, the top of the coat racks should measure 42.7 inches from the floor.
  • 5-7-year-olds, the top of the coat racks should measure 49 inches from the floor.
  • 7-9-year-olds, the top of the coat racks should measure 53 inches from the floor.
  • 9-year-olds (and older), the top of the coat racks should measure 60.9″ inches from the floor.

If you have limited wall space, consider hanging coat racks double row to provide extra storage for heavy backpacks and coats!
