We understand that each facility and classroom is unique. That’s why you can choose the best safe hook solution for you: Hook Only or Fully-Mounted Racks.
If you are like many of our customers who have existing racks with metal coat hooks, you may choose to simply replace your current coat hooks with our safe coat hook.
The other option is to opt for our fully-assembled HangSafe Racks! You may be building a new facility, replacing lockers or bulky cubbies, or simply want a fresh, new look for your hallways and classrooms—you’ll want to choose our fully-assembled coat racks.
All of our coat racks come fully-assembled and ready to mount on the walls out of the box. Make sure to tell us where each section of racks is going in your building and we’ll label the box on the outside for easy organization upon delivery!
We understand your facility is unique! Every classroom or hallway may require different rack lengths. You can customize your ordering with three easy steps:
- Choose your hook spacing: Our coat racks are pre-assembled with HangSafe Hooks. We offer four different spacing options from the center of one safe hook to the center of the next: 5 1/3″, 6.4″, 8″, and 10 2/3″.
- Choose your material: Whether you’re matching your school colors with our vibrant coat racks or blending materials with other furniture in your facility, we offer three material types: outdoor racks, solid oak racks, and polyethylene racks, or as we call them vibrant racks!
- Place your order! We’ll customize your HangSafe Racks and ship within 2 weeks.

Yes, there are. Oak is the most economical and commonly used, but maple, birch, and alder are three other choices we’ve had success with. There is an additional charge for using different wood. Give us a call 1-888-803-7403 to ask about using another option.

We’ll include detailed (with images) instructions on installing your new coat rack or shelving systems. But, if you run into any questions along the way, give us a call at 1-888-803-7403. We’ve mounted many coat racks on various wall types, so we’re happy to walk you through any issues over the phone.
We’ve worked hard to ensure the coat rack colors are as accurate as possible, but different computer screens may show the rack colors differently. If you want a stain color sample, please e-mail us at sales@hangsafehooks.com or call our offices at 1-888-803-7403. We’re happy to send you a sample to help you make your decision.
We’re happy to match the color to your space. If you’d rather the racks or shelving be a paint color, there will be an additional charge. However, you will be notified at the time of order to confirm the paint price charge and color.
Each order includes the mounting hardware (per wall type) and installation instructions. All rack orders come with HangSafe Hooks already mounted, so they are ready to attach to your wall. Shelving orders also include steel brackets for mounting.
Most domestic orders are shipped through UPS. International orders are shipped through USPS. Larger orders will be shipped freight, and you will be contacted with information to confirm the delivery date.
You will receive a confirmation e-mail with tracking numbers once it has shipped, so you’ll know exactly what day to expect your order.
Hook-only orders ship within 3-5 business days. Coat Racks ship within 5-7 business days once the order is confirmed, and shelving order ship within 12 business days.
How much available wall space you have determines how many hooks will fit. Each rack is available at four spacing options (the length from the center of one hook to the next). Your spacing option will determine how many hooks will fit.

There are two ways to create a custom order: Online in the above “Ordering” menu or over the phone at 1-888-803-7403. If your order is very detailed and you’d like more help, we’re happy to discuss the details over the phone.
We like to include all of the wall mounting hardware in your order. That way, we can help ensure you have everything you need for the proper installation of both the coat racks and shelving. It’s helpful to know any details about your walls that may be helpful in selecting the wall mounting hardware, i.e., the age of the building.
The height you hang your safety coat hooks is determined by the ages of the children who use the hooks the most. Our safety coat hooks are safe enough to hang at eye level. We suggest installing coat hooks:
- 3-5-year-olds, the top of the coat racks should measure 42.7 inches from the floor.
- 5-7-year-olds, the top of the coat racks should measure 49 inches from the floor.
- 7-9-year-olds, the top of the coat racks should measure 53 inches from the floor.
- 9-year-olds (and older), the top of the coat racks should measure 60.9″ inches from the floor.
If you have limited wall space, consider hanging coat racks double row to provide extra storage for heavy backpacks and coats!
